When it comes to framing a perspicuous map of the career of a woman carrying hijab, surely it is a nay from a range of people’s perspective. And surprisingly the range is quite massive! Hijab is considered a barrier factor for one’s career build-up curve. Azrin Alom – our superwoman for this issue, proved it wrong. Alongside being a modern working woman, she regards hijab as a lifestyle. In her life’s calculus, she integrated her passion and quest with the limit of confidence and courage. And after integrating loads of anfractuous functions of life she got a candid solution
An architect, a businesswoman, a brilliant student – Azrin Alom did her schooling and completed intermediary education from Holy Cross School and College. She studied architecture at BUET. After completing her architecture degree she practiced for some time. Then she got married. She is the co-director of the Sciccoso brand. She wanted to see a brand that would be ranked as an international one. Tons of ideas and concepts were reeling in her mind. In the meantime, she performed Hajj, a life-changing event for her! The house of Allah SWT and the Holy event had a colossal effect on her mind. She changed herself in a new dimension that is much precious to her. Transforming from a passionate modern loud woman into someone else was the peak of self-realization she felt inside her. One word to describe that moment would be euphoric.
A change occurred in her mind as well as in her gesture. She started hijab. Despite previously having an image that was much more admirable to this world, she never minded wearing hijab and walked through her same life path with more confidence and dignity. She then thought about adding a hijab line to Sciccoso’s wardrobe. Middle East Vogue is her inspiration. Her husband has been her biggest support from the very beginning in all of this. With him, she walked every step towards her goal. Many obstacles came on her path but the appeasement of Islam healed everything. Mockery and fake mails never bothered her as she found something which gave her eternal happiness.” Many fake emails were sent to me saying that the reason behind my wearing hijab is a promotional activity for my hijab line. But it is not. I wear hijab from my sense of self-respect and self-appeasement. I know how much respect I got from my family and close ones. I wanted to be an example that hijab doesn’t hinder any dream of your life rather it dignifies your steps with way more self-esteem.”
She is a woman with passion and high ambition who believes, “Hijab is not a trend, it is a lifestyle”, who flipped her lifestyle with the proper code of conduct, something that really matters despite losing anything. She wants to encourage women to wear hijab because that is the right path for every Muslimah. “If people get encouraged by seeing me do hijab then it will be my pleasure. Because many of them think that with hijab life will be much more difficult, harsh and opportunities will be retrenched. But I want to show them that you can do hijab without losing anything.”
To be an architect was her dream. She is involved in her family business and some projects. She has done the design of her outlet by herself. Albeit she is not practicing architecture to that extent now but it will always stay in her heart as a passion.
Azrin Alom sketched her career in her life’s paper with the set square called endeavor, pencil called caliber, ruler called confidence, and compass called devotion. And we can surely call that drawing a masterpiece!
